A community of volunteers dedicated to The Battle of Rhode Island Association and to broadening knowledge of Rhode Island’s role in our War for Independence.
Maureen Daniels, who designed our logos, brochures, and website, served in 2022.
Craig Clark was a Founding Director who served from 2021-2026.
Jim Garman, Portsmouth Town Historian and former president of the Portsmouth Historical Society, was a tireless advocate for the preservation and interpretation of Butts Hill Fort, supporting these efforts until his death in 2026.
Colonel Burton C. Quist, USMC Ret., was a founding director who served from 2021 until his passing in 2023. In tribute to his legacy, the BoRIA holds an annual public talk every June at the Portsmouth Historical Society, focusing on a Rhode Island Revolutionary War event or person.
Ed Rizy, Board Advisor for Signage and Scouting, served from 2022 to 2025.
Jeff Weston, Director representing the Bristol Historical and Preservation Society, served from 2022 – 2025.
Dr. Alexandra Uhl, Board Advisor for Archeology, served from 2024-2026.
