Please join Tim Cranston as he strolls by the oldest homes in Wickford to discuss the village’s numerous connections to the Revolutionary War. We will examine tales of local heroes and Tory traitors and look into the story behind the “Wickford Gun”, the cannon that not only successfully defended Wickford Harbor, but also was hauled down to shores of what is now Narragansett to disable a British warship. Along the way, we will look at the bigger picture of how the village ultimately benefited by the way the conflict played out in the 13th state. The walk will begin with a little coffee and pastries at St. Paul’s parish house on Main Street.
