Opening Day at Smith’s Castle!

Visitors will be welcomed by docents in period attire and be able to tour the downstairs interior of the former home and grounds of the prominent Smith and Updike families. Colonial re-enactors will be part of the celebration, with a muster and drill demonstrations from the Kingston Reds, and the Lebanon Militia. Entertainment will include performances from the Old Time Fiddlers Club of RI, a swashbuckling demonstration from the Rhode Island Pirate Players, and a General Court of Tryalls which will hear complaints and administer punishment in the stocks. Big Bear’s Trading Post will be on hand for any of your colonial clothing needs and accessories. Book and Bake Sales will be sponsored by Smith’s Castle’s docents.
Our younger guests will be able to enjoy colonial crafts and games.
There is no admission for this celebration, however your donation will be greatly appreciated. This event was made possible by the generosity of the North Kingstown Arts Council, and the volunteers and staff of The Cocumscussoc Association.
