An iron-master from Coventry, Nathanael Greene walked away from his Quaker upbringing regarding pacifism to become a private in the Kentish Guards militia unit and ultimately second-in-command of the Continental Army. With no formal military training. he would become known as the strategist of the American Revolution.

This event is free and open to the public. but registration is required. To register, contact Lauren at lwalker@coventrylibrary.org or 401.822.9104.

Through a generous grant from our Sponsor BankNewport, BoRIA is able to present these lectures to increase public awareness of RI’s unique Revolutionary War history.

She is the author of two books on forgotten heroes of the American Revolution – Liberty’s Martyr: The Story of Dr. Joseph Warren, and Freedom’s Cost: The Story of General Nathanael Greene.
