Paul R. Murphy
BoRIA Advisor for Merchandising
Paul was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned a BS in Computer Science from Northeastern
University. As an active duty USAF senior pilot with 3,500 hours, he commanded the 305 Air Mobility
Wing and McGuire AFB New Jersey, a unit of 48 global mobility jet aircraft and 3,000 personnel flying
worldwide missions. Paul was also the Vice Wing Commander at Al Dhafra AB, United Arab Emirates,
supporting daily combat missions to Afghanistan, Iraq and Horn of Africa. Following a tour as Director of
Safety for Air Mobility Command, and USAF HQ/Pentagon as Chief of Global Mobility and Special
Operations plans and programs, Paul held the George C. Kenney Professor of Air & Space Warfare Chair,
and the role of Senior Air Force Advisor to the President of the Naval War College for seven years. While
assigned, he taught with the Strategy Policy Department, before retiring after 33 years in the active
duty Air Force in 2021.
He is a husband, the father of four twenty-something college graduates, a Town of Portsmouth polling
official, and a member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company of Boston. Paul is currently an
Advisor to the BoRIA board, and the Chair of the Butts Hill Fort Restoration Committee, leading Fort
planning and restoration operations since 2022.
