Americans Ferry Over to Tiverton

During the evening of August 30 Sullivan issued the order for his men to depart Aquidneck Island.  By 8 PM most of the men who had mustered North of Butts Hill had marched to the ferry.  Captain Samuel Flagg with boatmen from Salem, Marblehead and other coastal ports facilitated the ferrying of equipment and men.  Most of the men were off the island  and across the quarter of a mile to Tiverton by midnight.
